Will Meditation Apps Help You Meditate More?

The answer is yes and now. It depends on how you use it and what frame of mind you approach it to.

Yes, they help because meditation apps, like meditation books, videos, audios, and talks, help you learn more about meditation; and they will teach you how to meditate, but if you become addicted to them or depend on them to remind you to be mindful, or calm your mind on a long term, then it defeats the purpose.

All these resources should only be used as an engine to introduce you to the spiritual world; not to be used as an engine to carry you on its power all the time.

Real transformation happens to you when you unplug. At least that’s how it happened to me. For a few years, I was reading about it and listening to guided meditation, trying to understand it logically, but only when I unplugged myself and tried to practice everything that I had learned in action, not much of a transformation happened in my life. Now, I don’t need any app or anything to remind me to be mindful or to calm my mind. Stress, fear, anxiety, worry and sadness appear in my mind all the time, but it disappears as soon as I acknowledge them without the help of apps or guided sounds.

The other downside to using apps is that there’re so many different apps and so many ways to meditate, with different promises, and you are naturally inclined to test three, four or more of them because you are curious about them and want to know which one will work better for you. You’ll find one better than the other, compare them, and spend more time with your device which distracts you and consumes your energy on the other side of what you wanted to achieve in the first place. So, by using apps, gadgets or other resources, you’re on the right path to learn the craft, but by becoming dependent on them, you’ll defeat the purpose.

A better way to get the real benefit and feel the subtle transformation in your life is to unplug yourself from everything and just keep practicing – even if you are not doing it 100% right – or you may think you are not doing it right – because that’s the only way to get to deep enough relaxation for an opportunity to play with your expanded imagination and to get in contact with your higher self.

I am recommending that you shut off your apps and try to unplug yourself the next time you want to meditate and see what happens? However, if you are insisting on using an app to start your journey, I found a meditation app review article that is helpful in answering your question.

Since I've not used any apps, I won't be able to answer this question, but I really like to know if you have used any meditation apps to please share your experience with me as to which app worked best for you? and how it helped you?
