My Story:
I consider myself one of the luckiest women in the world considering that I was born in Afghanistan – where I could have still be wearing a burka. I immigrated to the US in 1987 as a refugee and led my way to live in the beautiful tropical island of Maui in Hawaii. I'm a practical spiritual being, happily married and have been blessed with two children and two beautiful granddaughters.
My spiritual journey began with reading Frank Tibolt's book, "A Touch of Greatness" in 2010 when I was wondering about my purpose in life. It took me more than a decade of dedicated practice of yoga, meditation, and research on spirituality and happiness to finally finding my purpose, and I blessed with the opportunities to share my journey with others.
I've written & published six books on life lessons for different ages and stages of life which serve as a guide to help you create the life you love.
My entrepreneurial journey began when I had to pay $1200 to the IRS for personal income tax for the first time in spring of 1992. I remember the old guy, the tax preparer, who shook his head and told me that “if I had a side business, I could have deducted some expenses and you didn’t have to pay this.” That is when I said to myself “wait until next year!” That summer, my husband and I owned a take & bake pizza shop and since then we became serial entrepreneurs. To date, we both have owned at least eighteen different business ventures.
And imagine! throughout all these years, we are still married and share many things to laugh about every day. We raised two children and were promoted to be grandparents in 2014.
My Family:
After leaving Afghanistan, crossed the border to Iran, sneaked out of Iran to India, and got to the United States as a refugee. Lived in New York for three years and then moved to Northern California with my family where I lived for over three decades. We moved to Hawaii in 2015 and never looked back.
My husband, Jay, is my childhood friend and my biggest supporter. We own and work at Maui Plexiglass, where we offer custom acrylic fabrication and plastic sheets distribution to the Hawaiian Islands. My daughter, Sahar, is married to a wonderful man, Tamim, and is a graduate of the Academy of Art University as an Interior Designer. I became a grandmother in 2014, which brought a lot of joy into my life. My son is eight years younger than my daughter and is a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu, College of Culinary, in San Francisco. He cooks with a passion, and he is dreaming of creating his own brand beverage soon.
My happy moments are always spending time with my family and close friends.
