I’ll be the first American Muslim to register only if I felt that it could solve the problem and make America safer. I’m scared and have fear as any other American, French, German, Arab or Afghan citizen living in the United States, and like any good human being, I’m against terror and terrorizing altogether. But, unfortunately, the religion that I was born into has been hijacked for some time and have been used for political gains.
I’ll do everything in my capacity to make this world a safer place for everyone regardless of their religion, race or where they are living. For this reason, I’ll fully support the president elect to keep his campaign promises and get rid of the radicals who fight under the name of Islam and commit vicious atrocities. I might wrongful be labeled and isolated, but the reward would be much greater.
With that being said, I cannot imagine a person like myself or the rest of 99% of all the Muslim immigrants who came into this country for safety and a normal life to be in the same list as a real terrorist or a real radical minded person. Not only it’s unconstitutional and unethical, it’s a total waste of energy, resources, time and money with unfavorable results. I just don’t think that a Great America would include a Muslim Registry in its history books.
Here are some alternatives instead:
- Cut all foreign source of funding to all mosques. While all mosques are established for the right reasons, there are some who get their funding from foreign countries, especially terrorist sponsoring states
- Stop and shut down the mosques where HATE is preached and are radical sympathizers.
- Place tough restrictions on every Muslim entering the country.
- Stop the never-ending wars overseas to stop uprooting people from their homes and communities
- Recognize your REAL enemies
- Place a gun registry – times have changed. Your laws can work against you
- Work with American Muslims, not against them. Labeling and dividing people is unAmerican.
I refuse to live with fear or hide because of my beliefs. The safest place to live right now is the United States; this is my home and I want my kids to have a safe place to live and call it their home. I’m grateful for everything that this country has offered me and thousands of others like me.
Now, it’s your turn. Please comment blow what do you think on what is the right thing to do and if you are suggesting any other alternative to the Muslim registry if it is approved.
